Mozambique

Humanican is partnering with the Fontaine Children's Charity foundation and their dynamic Chairman Tiffany Fontaine. Tiffany began the project of sponsoring a street children's program in her first year of University. Having worked on the ground with the Arao family who run the orphanage, Tiffany is in the unique position of being able to plan a project with Humanican that will be practical and hands on. We look forward to a project that will work on the orphan's most critical needs; a school, dorm rooms, a kitchen, medical services, and volunteer housing. Perhaps one day a soccer field. Read More

Nepal

Humanican's eminence gris, Ken McCaffrey, was able to visit a significant number of schools and orphanages in the area around Katmandu . Ken's words speak volumes about the opportunity here: "This project may be magic, but will need to be a forthright in assessment of risk. Lots of issues: usual health problems, corruption, traffic dangers, military & police presence. There is unrest in the countryside, potential earthquake, as well as a negative Canadian travel advisory. I've met 100's of Canadians in the country, by the way, both travelers and volunteers. Also, there is potential for a school based global action club to help from a distance. Let me see some more & write you again. In India and Thailand our students are faced with these realities in their daily lives for a month. Yet, through their travel, they transformed a village. That one village will be grateful, certainly, but our children have learned of their ability to change the planet.

India

Humanican looks forward to continuing the project Water for Life in India. This project presented the opportunity to effect real change and was our most challenging undertaking thus far. However, we do not yet have a stable partner whick would allow the project to flouish. We continue to believe that clean water to villages in India allows us to address development at the most primary level. Read more
